Like the other science vessels before it, the Vesta-class was designed with the ability to enter a planet's atmosphere and land on the surface. The class also incorporated Sympathetic Fermion Transceivers, which created a temporary, large fermion field around the starship, bolstering its shields and structural integrity. The Vesta-class was protected by a Duranium-Tritanium Double Hull. The space could accommodate up to three runabouts, or a variety of smaller craft, but was only accessible via environmental suit or transporter.īelow the afterdeck was Shuttlebay 2, which held the shuttlepods and Cargo Management Units carried by the class.
